As a public corporation, the Chamber of Engineers Thuringia has the central task of safeguarding the professional interests of engineers and the reputation of the profession, while at the same time monitoring the fulfillment of professional obligations.

The structure of the chamber membership at the Chamber of Engineers Thuringia includes compulsory members and also voluntary members. The Chamber of Engineers keeps a register of chamber members, which also includes the list of voluntary members.

In contrast to the mandatory professional practice or professional experience required for compulsory members, this is not a necessary prerequisite for voluntary membership in the Chamber of Engineers of Thuringia.

This is connected with the objective to open the possibility to join the Chamber of Engineers Thuringia as a voluntary chamber member also for beginners, who on the one hand are entitled to use the protected professional title "engineer" due to completed professional qualifications and on the other hand do not yet have sufficient professional experience. As a voluntary member, you have access to in-service training opportunities and synergies resulting from the community of chamber members.

The registration as a voluntary member of the Chamber of Engineers Thuringia documents at the same time that the applicant has the professional qualification required by law and the associated authorization to use the protected professional title "Engineer".
