Batteries - Disposal

Service Description

Used batteries and accumulators do not belong in the trash, but are to be collected separately. This can be done

  • via the trade (as far as it sells batteries and accumulators),
  • via collection boxes of the foundation Gemeinsames Rücknahmesystem Batterien (GRS), which are available in many public institutions as well as in shops, or
  • via recycling centers or the mobile hazardous waste collection service of the municipal waste disposal service.

If possible, the starter battery for the car should be returned to the place where it was purchased. Only there will the deposit of 7.50 euros charged at the time of purchase be refunded. They can also be handed in to the municipal facilities mentioned or left at the acceptance point/dismantling facility for end-of-life vehicles, but there the deposit is not refunded.
