EMAS register registration

Service Description

EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) is a European Community Eco-Management and Audit Scheme. This instrument helps organizations to improve their environmental performance. The introduction of EMAS is not required by law.

EMAS starts with an inventory, the so-called environmental audit, and leads to the establishment of an environmental management system(processes, organization, responsibilities) with documentation and the preparation of an environmental statement.

At the end of the process, an accredited environmental verifier checks the system that has been introduced and the information in the environmental statement.

If this assessment is positive, the registration by the responsible Chamber of Industry and Commerce or Chamber of Crafts takes place. After registration in the EMAS register, your organization may carry the EMAS logo.

The registration is valid for three years, for small organizations four years. It must then be renewed. To retain registration, your organization must submit an updated environmental statement every year.
