Among other things, the regulations of the Thuringian Building Code also apply to the removal of facilities, including structural installations. Accordingly, in most cases, the intended removal must be notified in advance to the responsible lower building supervisory authority. Only projects that are not subject to procedures according to the building code, smaller free-standing buildings and smaller installations, do not require notification.

Independently of the notification of the removal, the stability of neighboring buildings must be checked if they are built together or if the building ground gives reason to do so.

If approval, permission or consent under other regulations is required for the removal of the installation, this must be obtained before the removal is commenced. This depends on the individual case, for example, according to monument protection law, nature conservation law or waste law.
