Take the fishing exam (fishing exam acceptance)

Service Description

If you want to fish, you need a fishing license. The prerequisite is proof that you have successfully passed a fishing examination. You can take this at the lower fishing authority (districts and independent cities).

The dates for the fishing examinations are set by the districts or independent cities as the responsible fishing authorities as required. The examination date is announced by the fishing authority at least three months in advance. You must register for the examination with the fishing authority up to four weeks before the examination.

The fishing examination comprises 10 questions each in the subject areas of general and special fish knowledge, water knowledge, nature, animal and environmental protection, equipment knowledge and legal knowledge, i.e. a total of 60 questions. The examination is deemed to have been passed if at least six points have been achieved in each of the examination areas and at least 45 points in total.

In order to be admitted to the examination, proof of participation in a preparatory course must be provided and the examination fee paid. Information on the courses offered can be obtained from the local fishing authority.

To fish in the respective water, you also need a permit (fishing license), which must be obtained from the owner of the fishing rights or fishing leaseholder of the water.
