As of November 1, 2015, the housing provider must again assist with registration at the registration office. Therefore, every person obliged to register must be given a housing provider confirmation so that they can fulfill their legal obligation to register within two weeks of moving in. When registering the new residence, this landlord confirmation must be presented to the registration office (the rental contract is not sufficient). If the person subject to the registration obligation moves into his or her own property, a self-declaration must be submitted at the time of registration. Moving out must be confirmed by the housing provider only in the case of moving abroad or leaving one of several residences (e.g. a secondary residence).

The housing provider's confirmation must be submitted for each registration, deregistration or change of address.
