Service Description

Certification bodies monitor the compliance of operators in the bioenergy sector with the sustainability regulations and issue so-called interface certificates. Certification bodies are recognized for this purpose upon application.

The Biomass Electricity Sustainability Ordinance (BioSt-NachV) and the Biofuel Sustainability Ordinance (Biokraft-NachV) serve to implement Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 23, 2009, which define the requirements for the remuneration of electricity from liquid biomass pursuant to Section 27 (1) of the Renewable Energy Sources Act or for the crediting of the fulfillment of the legal obligation under the Federal Immission Control Act to place a certain minimum proportion of biofuels on the market in the course of a calendar year, as well as the tax relief eligibility of biofuels under the Energy Tax Act.
