The Free State of Thuringia has set itself the task of creating affordable, secure housing for people in the region and also helping lower-income households to fulfill their desire to own their own four walls.

There are various subsidy programs for this purpose, all of which have been managed by the Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB) since January 2010. TAB is responsible for approving, disbursing and administering the subsidies and for collateralizing the housing loans.
