• Written form-based application to the responsible registration authority with the specification of the owner and vehicle data.
  The application can also be completed at the registration authority.
  
• Valid ID card (not a copy) of the vehicle owner or passport with registration certificate from the registration office of the place of residence.
  The registration certificate must not be older than three months.
  If the vehicle owner is not a natural person, further documents are necessary to determine the owner.
  
  

Additionally in case of damage:

• The damaged registration certificate must be presented to the registration authority. A replacement will be issued.

Additionally in case of loss:

• The still existing Part I or II of the registration certificate (vehicle title or vehicle registration document).
• Declaration in lieu of an oath (notification of the registration authority by telephone or in writing is not sufficient); declaration of loss, if applicable.
  In the event of theft, confirmation of notification by the police.
  
• Inspection report of the last unexpired general inspection (not applicable if the first general inspection was not yet due)
• Inspection report of the last unexpired exhaust emission test (not applicable if the first exhaust emission test was not yet due and for vehicles that are not subject to the exhaust emission test obligation)
• Inspection report of the last safety inspection that has not yet expired (if required)
