Service Description

Anyone who has suffered injury to health as a result of military or military-like service or as a result of an accident during the performance of military or military-like service or as a result of the conditions peculiar to such service shall, on application, receive a pension on account of the health and economic consequences of the injury ( Section 1 (1) of the Federal Pension Act (Bundesversorgungsgesetz - BVG).

The benefit can be paid in the form of a monthly pension. Depending on the determined degree of the consequences of the injury (GdS), this includes

  • non-income-related benefits, such as basic pension, care allowance, severely disabled person's allowance, clothing wear allowance and
  • income-related benefits, such as compensatory pension, spouse's supplement, occupational injury compensation.

Surviving dependents' benefits for widows, widowers, orphans and parents are also regulated, as is the payment of death and burial benefits. There is also the possibility of assuming the costs of nursing care and institutionalization due to injury. Other benefits include medical treatment, care for war victims and the provision of orthopedic aids.
