If you want to practice fishing, you need a fishing license. The prerequisite is proof that you have successfully passed a fishing examination. You can take this exam at the lower fishing authority (counties and independent cities).

The dates for the fishing examinations are set by the counties or independent cities as the responsible fishing authorities as required. The examination date is announced at least three months in advance by the fishery authority. Up to four weeks before the examination, one must have registered for the examination at the fishery authority.

The fishing exam consists of 10 questions each in the subject areas of general and special fish science, hydrology, nature, animal and environmental protection, equipment and legal knowledge, i.e. a total of 60 questions. The exam is considered passed if at least six points have been achieved in each of the examination areas and a total of at least 45 points.

In order to be admitted to the examination, participation in a preparatory course must be proven and the examination fee must be paid. Information on the courses offered can be obtained from the local fisheries authority.

For fishing in the respective waters, you also need a permit (fishing license), which must be obtained from the owner of the fishing right or fishing leaseholder of the water.
