If you are the owner of a fishing right (Fischereiberechtigter) or a lessee of the right to fish in a body of water, you must draw up a management plan for your fishing district and notify the competent lower fisheries authority of this plan.

For fish ponds used for fishery purposes (aquaculture) and ponds that have been stocked with water for less than twelve years, no management plans need to be drawn up.

In Thuringia, the competent lower fisheries authority is responsible for supervising the implementation of the management plans.

It carries out checks on the management plans to ensure sustainable fishing. If the information in the management plans is not sufficient to ensure good professional practice in the fishing district and adjacent fishing districts or fishing communities, the competent lower fisheries authority may order appropriate fishing measures.
