Report insignificant changes to a terminal device for BOS digital radio

Service Description

In digital radio for public safety authorities and organizations (BOS), terminals from various manufacturers are used. To ensure that these terminals are compatible with all network components and with each other, you may only use terminals certified by the Federal Agency for the Digital Radio of Authorities and Organizations with Security Tasks (BDBOS).

The BDBOS has defined performance characteristics in the interoperability guidelines (IOP guidelines) that all terminals must fulfill. Compliance with these defined performance features is confirmed by a corresponding certificate.

If you as the manufacturer make changes to an already certified terminal device or distribute these devices, you must report this to the BDBOS immediately. This also applies if the changes do not affect the legal requirements.

So-called insignificant changes include, among other things, changes that you only make to the housing of the terminal device, but not to the software or hardware. In the case of control center components, replacing hardware components can also be a minor change.

Based on your notification, the BDBOS will check whether an insignificant change has actually been made.

  • This is deemed to be the case if the BDBOS does not inform you of a different decision within 3 months.

If, on the other hand, the BDBOS considers the change to be significant, you will receive a written notification within 3 months. You must then generally apply for a change certification.
