Apply for federal coronavirus bridging aid for professional sport

Service Description

The "Corona Aid for Professional Sport 2021" is a grant from the federal government and offers financial support for professional sports clubs, companies and associations at federal level.

The benefits serve to mitigate financial losses in ticket revenue and losses incurred due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
You can receive grants as part of the corona aid for professional sport if you belong to one of the following categories:

  • Sports clubs and companies in professional and semi-professional competition that have at least one team in a 1st, 2nd or 3rd league in Olympic, non-Olympic and Paralympic individual and team sports.
  • Federations at federal level that have at least one team in professional and semi-professional competition in Olympic, non-Olympic and Paralympic individual and team sports, or
  • Federations at federal level that regularly host or organize at least one professional or semi-professional competition in Olympic, non-Olympic and Paralympic individual and team sports.
  • Federations that organize 2021 championships without spectators ("ghost championships") as qualifying competitions for the Tokyo 2021 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games can receive compensation for lost ticket revenue,
  • Clubs and companies that organize or host a professional or semi-professional competition in the field of Olympic, non-Olympic and Paralympic individual and team sports on behalf of an association can receive compensation for lost ticket revenue.

Furthermore, you must be eligible to receive support:

  • Operate from a domestic venue or
    • operate from a domestic registered office of the club, company or association management

and

  • be registered with a German tax office and
  • must not have ceased club or business operations.

As a sports club or company, you are not eligible to apply for your teams in the 1st and 2nd men's Bundesliga.

Applications can only be submitted by a person authorized by you, such as a tax consultant, tax advisor, tax consultant, tax consultant, tax advisor, tax advisor, tax advisor, tax advisor or tax advisor:

  • Tax consultant,
  • accountant/auditor,
  • lawyer or
  • sworn auditor.

You do not have to repay the grants.

The application for corona aid for professional sport must be submitted by your authorized representative via an electronic procedure (online portal).
