Benefits in the event of a need for care for people with statutory accident insurance

Service Description

Your employer's liability insurance association or accident insurance fund as the accident insurance provider pays care allowance.

The amount of care allowance depends on the one hand on the type or severity of your health impairment. On the other hand, the extent of the assistance required also plays a role. Both together result in the so-called need for care, which is measured using a percentage. There is no care degree determination as in the statutory long-term care insurance.

The amount of your care allowance is based on your percentage of need for care. There is a statutory minimum and maximum amount.

Care at home, if desired, has priority over placement in an inpatient care facility. Both private carers, for example relatives, and professional outpatient services can provide care at home.

The benefits provided by statutory accident insurance due to the need for care take precedence over the benefits provided by social long-term care insurance and the associated long-term care insurance funds. This means that if you receive corresponding benefits from statutory accident insurance, your entitlement to care benefits from social long-term care insurance is suspended.
