Data collection for transport and traffic statistics

Service Description

The Federal Statistical Office (StBA) continuously collects and analyzes data on the German economy and other areas of society. The StBA prepares the data and makes it available. These statistics serve as a basis for policy-making, among other things. For this reason, companies are obliged to provide information. If your company receives a corresponding request from the StBA, you must provide the requested data.

The StBA regularly collects statistics in the following areas, among others, in order to be able to assess their structure and development:

  • Inland navigation
  • air transport
  • passenger transport
  • Rail transport

Different information is required depending on the mode of transport. In addition, the StBA requests certain information at different intervals, such as monthly, annually or at intervals of several years. Depending on the survey, you may have to provide the following information:

  • Number of employees
  • Number of passengers transported
  • Number of means of transport
  • Quantity and type of goods transported
  • Number of accidents in rail transport
