Apply for a travel allowance for integration courses

Service Description

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) is a higher federal authority and is responsible, among other things, for the travel allowance for attending integration courses.

You can receive the travel allowance if you have to walk more than 3 kilometers from your home to the course location.

Another requirement is that you do not have to pay a contribution towards the costs of the integration course.

You can receive a lump sum per course day, i.e. a fixed amount of money.

Make your application in good time before the start of the course. As a rule, you will receive the travel allowance from the course section that begins after your application. Retroactive payment for the period before your application is generally not possible.

If the course location or your home address changes, you must submit a new application for a travel allowance to the BAMF.

Late repatriates
If you are a late repatriate or a relative of a late repatriate, you will only receive the travel allowance if you receive unemployment benefit II, social welfare, unemployment benefit I without any other income or are financially needy for other reasons.

Hardship application
If the BAMF already pays you a travel allowance, but this does not cover the actual travel costs, you can apply for a higher daily allowance. To do so, you must submit a hardship application.

You can apply for the travel allowance online or in writing to the relevant regional office of the BAMF.
