Payments, transfers and checks

Service Description

Payments, transfers and checks

Your bank may not charge you more for payments in euros throughout the EU than for equivalent national transactions.

This includes

  • Transfers between bank accounts in different EU countries
  • Withdrawals from ATMs/bank machines in EU countries
  • Payments by debit or credit card within the EU
  • direct debits

Banks based in EU countries outside the euro area must also adhere to this rule and may not charge you more for payments in euros - across borders or in another EU country - than for a domestic payment in the national currency.
