Anyone who suspects undeclared workers on construction sites can report their suspicions to the hotline operated by IG Bau.
Calls can be made on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on
08 00/4 42 28 02 (toll-free).

Reports from other areas are also accepted by both hotlines and forwarded to the relevant authorities for investigation. You can also contact the local trade authority (Gewerbeamt). Reports will be treated confidentially on request.

Competent authorities:
In Germany, the Federal Customs Administration and the authorities responsible under state law (usually the public order offices of the districts and cities) are responsible for combating illegal employment.

The Financial Control of Clandestine Employment (FKS) is represented in the customs area. The original responsibility of customs relates to illegal employment in connection with the misuse of benefits, tax evasion and the violation of various obligations to notify the social security provider.

In Thuringia, the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Labor and Technology coordinates the fight against illegal employment for the authorities responsible under state law. To this end, the public order offices work together with a wide range of authorities. These include the main customs offices, trade, labor and social welfare offices, the police, chambers of crafts and trades, employers' liability insurance associations, tax authorities and pension insurance providers (formerly: LVA, BfA).
