You have inherited. If you now want to dispose of the inheritance, a certificate of inheritance is required in many cases so that you can identify yourself in business transactions. This is particularly the case if

• there is no will, i.e. intestate succession has occurred,
• a plot of land is part of the estate and there is only a private will and not a notarial will,
• the content of the will is not clear.

The certificate of inheritance must be applied for separately.
A simple letter is not sufficient. Since an affidavit must be made stating the correctness of the necessary information, you must go in person to a notary or to the probate court.
