Large areas are designated as nature parks, which are particularly suitable for recreation due to their natural characteristics and beauty. The preservation of the diversity of species and habitats and the characteristic landscape of the respective cultural landscape is an objective pursued in the nature parks.

The development of sustainable land use - i.e. sustainable regional development - is at the center of activities. This is done in the nature parks with the involvement of the people living in the area, as this is the only way to create acceptance for nature conservation and to promote regional identity and understanding for sustainable overall development of the rural area.
