Documents required:

• Written application form with details of the owner and vehicle data
  The application can also be completed at the registration authority.

• Valid identity card (not a copy) of the vehicle owner or passport with registration certificate from the registration office of the place of residence
  The registration certificate must not be older than three months.
• If the vehicle owner is not a natural person, further documents are required to identify the owner (see links under "Vehicle registration").

• If the license plate is damaged, it must be presented. A new license plate will be sealed as a replacement. The documents listed below are not required.

In the event of loss or theft, the following documents are also required

• any remaining license plate number or proof of license plate allocation if the vehicle is not registered but has a license plate number

• Affirmation in lieu of an oath (a telephone or written notification to the registration authority is not sufficient); declaration of loss, if applicable.

• In the event of theft, confirmation of the police report.

• Inspection report of the last general inspection that has not yet expired (not required if the first general inspection was not yet due)

• Inspection report of the last exhaust emission test that has not yet expired (not applicable if the first exhaust emission test was not yet due and for vehicles that are not subject to mandatory exhaust emission testing)

• Test report of the last safety inspection that has not yet expired (if required)
