Apply for BAföG abroad
Service Description
Depending on your financial background, you can use BAföG to complete a school or university education.
If you are studying, training or doing an internship abroad, you can also apply for BAföG.
Funding for studies within the EU is possible until you graduate. If you are studying outside the EU, you can generally receive funding for one year. In exceptional cases, funding is also possible for 2.5 years. Your tuition fees and travel expenses are also taken into account in the calculation.
In principle, the following supplements can be paid in addition to your requirements:
- Monthly foreign supplement for studies outside a member state of the European Union or Switzerland
- Tuition fees for a maximum of one year up to EUR 5,600
- Travel expenses for a return trip within Europe EUR 250, outside Europe EUR 500 (also for an internship)
- Health insurance (also for an internship)
Funding is generally provided in the same way as basic funding.
The tuition fees are always paid as a non-repayable grant.
