Service Description

The public veterinary system protects the health of animals and humans. It is an important part of consumer protection, agriculture, the food industry and animal welfare.

Tasks of the public veterinary system are:

  • Preventing and controlling animal diseases, especially those transmissible from animals to humans,
  • Maintaining and developing the health of farm animals,
  • Protecting people from danger and damage caused by animal diseases,
  • Protecting the environment from harmful effects caused by animals and animal products and waste,
  • Protecting the life and well-being of animals and preventing suffering.
