Obligation to report

Service Description

The obligation to register applies to persons over the age of 16 who move into a new home. They must register within two weeks.

For persons up to the age of 16, the obligation to register is incumbent on the person into whose dwelling the persons move or from whose dwelling they move out.

Newborns born in Germany only have to be registered if they are taken into a dwelling other than that of the parents or the mother. In principle, the registry offices notify the registration authorities immediately of the certification of the birth of a child.
