Psychotherapeutic services for people with statutory accident insurance

Service Description

Robberies, as well as experiencing or witnessing serious accidents or particularly dangerous situations, can be very stressful events for those affected, often leading to psychological trauma. This can be triggered by the immediate threat to life and limb as well as the feeling of helplessness and of being completely at the mercy of others.

Like physical wounds, psychological injuries also require special help to heal. If you are suffering from a psychological injury, you should seek help as soon as possible after the traumatic experience. This will prevent the development of mental illnesses with long-term consequences and strengthen your natural self-healing powers.

After a recognized occupational accident or occupational illness, the statutory accident insurance provides for the psychotherapist procedure in this case. The procedure regulates the requirements and implementation of the services for you. Only medical and psychological psychotherapists who have specialist knowledge and are prepared to take on certain duties can be involved in this procedure.

Your therapy begins with up to 5 sessions. A decision is then made on whether to continue outpatient psychotherapy in the form of short-term or long-term therapy. In particularly serious cases, inpatient treatment may also be considered.

The therapy will be initiated by your employer's liability insurance association or accident insurance fund or by the accident insurance consultant.
