Rescue service

The rescue service, which can be reached via number 112 is the professional pre-hospital medical assistance for emergency patients . Its organization and structure is the responsibility of the federal states and is regulated by them in state laws. The most important funding body is the statutory health insurance.

Via the number 116117 insured persons can call so-called appointment service centers, which are run by the Associations of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians must be operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In acute cases where short-term care outside of the emergency services is required, these service centers must provide insured persons with immediate medical care at the medically necessary level of care (this can be, for example, an open doctor's practice, an on-call practice, the emergency outpatient department of a hospital or, in suitable cases, a medical consultation by telephone).
