Animal by-products: Commercial handling (rendering) - Permit

Service Description

Any person who collects, gathers or transports animal by-products on a professional basis must notify the competent authority of his establishment before commencing operations, stating his name, address and the animal by-products which he intends to transport (Section 7 of the Animal By-products Disposal Ordinance -TierNebG).

For establishments or plants where animal by-products are produced, transported, handled, processed, stored, placed on the market, distributed, used or disposed of, prior registration is required (Article 23 of Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009). For certain activities, in particular in connection with the processing and handling of Category 1 and Category 2 materials, approval of the establishment by the competent authority is also required (Article 24 of Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009).

For Category 1 and Category 2 animal by-products (excluding milk, colostrum, manure, and stomach and intestinal contents), the public bodies responsible under state law are responsible for the collection, collection, transport, storage, treatment, processing and disposal of animal by-products (Article 3(1) of the Animal By-products Disposal Act - TierNebG). Exemptions from this are possible for certain other uses of animal by-products (§ 4 TierNebG).
