Socio-educational specialists: State recognition

Service Description

The state recognition of social pedagogical professional qualifications is carried out by the educational institution in accordance with the Thuringian Law on the State Recognition of Social Pedagogical Professions (Thüringer Sozialberufe-Anerkennungsgesetz - ThürSozAnerkG -), For successfully completed courses of study at a state or state-recognized Thuringian university or degrees from the Thuringian technical schools of social services as well as for training and qualification certificates in social pedagogy completed before 1996, Department 33 of the Thuringian Ministry of Social Affairs, Family and Health is responsible.
Qualifications obtained by nationals of member states of the European Union as well as nationals of third countries are also recognized in accordance with the ThürSozAnerkG by Department 550 of the Thuringian State Administration Office.

The following socio-educational professional qualifications are recognized by the state:

1. successful completion of a Bachelor's degree course that corresponds to the "Qualifications Framework for Social Work" adopted by the Social Work Faculty Conference on 4 December 2008 and was completed at a state or state-recognized university in Thuringia or the vocational academies in Eisenach and Gera, as:

  • state-recognized social pedagogue,
  • state-recognized social worker,
  • state-recognized social education worker,
  • state-recognized social pedagogue/social worker.

2. successful graduation from a state or state-recognized university in Thuringia or the vocational academies in Eisenach and Gera in a Bachelor's degree course that corresponds to the "Common Framework for Education and Upbringing in Childhood" adopted by the Conference of Youth and Family Ministers on 14 December 2010 as:

  • state-recognized childhood educator
  • State-recognized childhood educator

3. successful completion of the training program :

  • Educator,
  • family nurse,
  • Social work specialist,
  • curative educator,
  • remedial teacher,
  • remedial teacher

at a state or state-recognized Thuringian technical college.

Requirements for state recognition of training and qualification certificates in social pedagogy completed before 1996:

  • Successful participation in the advanced training course for social pedagogues at the University of Education Erfurt / Mühlhausen in 1991 and 1992
    or
  • Presentation of a certificate issued by the Thuringian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs before the Thuringian Social Professions Recognition Act came into force confirming the right to use the professional title "social worker" or "social worker"
    or
  • Submission of a certificate from the Thuringian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs confirming the postgraduate degree in social work.

Certificates of training and qualifications from nationals of member states of the European Union and nationals of third countries are recognized.
The prerequisite is successful completion of vocational training in the country of origin that entitles the holder to work in a comparable socio-educational field there.
Persons whose professional qualifications are recognized must have the language skills required to carry out their professional activities in the Free State of Thuringia.

  • State-recognized social pedagogue,
  • state-recognized social worker,
  • state-recognized social education worker,
  • state-recognized social pedagogue/social worker,
  • state-recognized educator,
  • state-recognized family nurse,
  • state-recognized social work specialist,
  • state-recognized remedial teacher,
  • state-recognized remedial teacher,
  • state-recognized remedial teacher.
