Transfer driving license from the European Economic Area or the European Union
Service Description
If you hold a driver's license from a country in the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) and have moved to Germany, you must have your driver's license transferred in the following cases:

- the validity of individual driving license classes ends.
In the case of driving license classes that are limited in time in Germany (classes C and D as well as corresponding subclasses and trailer classes), the German period of validity applies. This also applies if no or longer periods are entered in the foreign driver's license.
EU/EEA driving license for non-harmonized classes:
If you wish to drive a motor vehicle in Germany, you must have your driver's license transferred.

You do not need a transcription.
