Recovering repatriation costs for deceased persons in statutory accident insurance

In the event of accidents, people insured under statutory accident insurance may die away from their place of residence.

In the event of death as a result of an insured event under statutory accident insurance, the employers' liability insurance associations and accident insurance funds will reimburse the costs of transporting the deceased to their former place of residence. Accidents at work, commuting accidents and school accidents as well as recognized occupational illnesses are considered insured events.

If you have paid for such repatriation, you will receive your money back. The employers' liability insurance associations and accident insurance funds will check on their own initiative whether you are entitled to reimbursement. An application is therefore not necessary.
