Transmitting data to the Federal Statistical Office as a wholesale company

Service Description

The Federal Statistical Office (StBA) continuously collects and analyzes data on the German economy and other areas of society. The StBA prepares the data and makes the results available. Among other things, these statistics serve as a basis for political action.

For this reason, companies are obliged to provide information. Not all companies are surveyed, but companies are selected at random using scientific methods. If your company receives a corresponding request from the StBA, you must provide the requested data. The StBA requests certain data monthly, others annually.

This applies to companies in the wholesale sector with the exception of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

The data that you must submit on a monthly basis may include the following:

  • Turnover
  • Number of persons employed
  • Federal states in which your company has branches.

The data you must submit annually may include the following:

  • Main economic activity carried out
  • Number of branches
  • Number of active persons
  • turnover
  • taxes
  • Subsidies
  • Investments
  • Expenses
