Product conformity

Before you can sell a product in an EU country, it must comply with the regulations that apply in that country and throughout the EU. If the product is approved for sale in one country, it can in principle be sold anywhere in the EU. In practice, however, individual EU countries have the right in certain cases to refuse access to their market to products that are already being sold in another EU country. Different rules must be observed at each stage of the procedure.

Labels and markings

Many products must be labeled in order to be sold in the EU. There is mandatory and voluntary labeling.
