Wild birds - taking in and caring for injured, helpless or sick animals.

Service Description

According to nature conservation regulations, it is permitted to take in injured, helpless or sick birds and nurse them back to health. The animals are to be released back into the wild without delay as soon as they are able to maintain themselves there.

Birds to which hunting laws apply and which are thus the responsibility of the person authorized to hunt are exempt from these regulations. These include the following bird species:

  • Grey heron,
  • Mute Swan,
  • coot,
  • all native birds of prey (including falcons),
  • all domestic geese and ducks,
  • Magpies, ravens and ravens.

All owls and other small birds (songbirds, woodpeckers, swifts) are not subject to hunting rights.
