Road passenger transport - Apply for a certificate of professional competence

Service Description

You require a permit for commercial road passenger transport (bus, cab or hire car companies). One of the requirements for obtaining a permit is proof of professional suitability.The entrepreneur or the transport manager/person appointed to manage the business must be professionally qualified.

If you or the transport manager/person appointed to manage the business can prove that you are professionally qualified by having worked for at least ten years as a manager in a company that operates road passenger transport, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce can issue you with a corresponding certificate of professional competence. This activity must have been exercised without interruption in one or more EU member states for a period of ten years from December 4, 1999 to December 3, 2009. The end of the activity must not be more than two years ago.

In addition, professional aptitude can also be demonstrated by a recognized equivalent final examination (e.g. as a rail and road transport clerk with a focus on passenger transport, provided they were started or successfully completed before 4.12.2011).

Alternatively, professional aptitude can be demonstrated by passing a professional qualification examination at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).
