§ 120 ThürSchulO Determination of development

(1) By May 20, the principal shall notify the responsible school board and the public health department of the names of the children registered for school enrollment for the school year after next, their date of birth and the addresses of their parents.

(2) In agreement with the school principal, the health office shall conduct the school medical examination of all registered children. Parents shall be notified in due time before the examination. They have the right to be present at the examination.

(3) By May 15 of the calendar year in which school enrollment is to take place, the health office shall designate to the responsible school office and the responsible school, giving reasons, those children for whom, due to a medical indication, the prerequisites for successful school learning have not yet been met.

(4) The elementary school shall carry out developmental assessment measures by May 15 for children enrolled early in school at the request of the parents. Sentence 1 shall apply mutatis mutandis to the community school pursuant to section 119(1) sentence 2.

(3) In exceptional cases, a child of compulsory school age may be deferred from school attendance once for one year at the request of the parents if, due to a medical indication, the prerequisites for successful school learning are not yet met. The decision is made by the principal, in particular on the basis of the school medical examination.

Children are obliged to attend the school medical examinations.
