Thuringian Police

The Thuringian Police is the state police force of the Free State of Thuringia with around 6,800 employees, including 5,743 police enforcement officers, 283 administrative officers and 766 pay-scale employees. Its task is to ensure public safety and order. It is responsible for averting danger and prosecuting criminal and administrative offenses.

The State Police Directorate, the State Criminal Police Office of Thuringia and the educational institutions of the Thuringian police are intermediate authorities and directly subordinate to the Thuringian Ministry of the Interior and Local Government. Subordinate to the state police directorate are seven state police inspectorates, the riot police and the highway police inspectorate.
