Different forms for tax returns, tax declarations or applications and certificates are required for the taxation procedure, depending on the individual types of tax.

The Thuringian tax authorities recommend preparing tax returns in electronic form. You can use the free ELSTER (electronic tax return) service provided by the tax authorities for this purpose. There you will also find an overview of offers from other providers.

After registering on the ELSTER online portal, there is no need to print out and post the forms. The tax return is transmitted via a secure electronic channel. Further advantages are offered by document retrieval (pre-filled tax return) and the electronic transmission of assessment data.

If you would still like to submit your tax return in paper form, you can use the forms in the form service. These are generally displayed online and can be completed on a PC. However, it is not possible to send them directly to the tax office. To submit your tax return, you must print out the completed document and send it to the tax office by post.

Alternatively, the tax return forms are also available for collection from the Thuringian tax offices.
