Applying for a fishing license
Service Description
If you want to fish, you need a fishing license due to the fishing license requirement.
This is issued by the fishing authority responsible for your place of residence upon application, provided that you have passed a fishing examination or there are circumstances that do not require you to take the fishing examination.
To fish in the respective body of water, you also require a fishing permit, which must be obtained from the fishing rights holder (owner of the fishing rights) or fishing leaseholder of the body of water.
Process flow
Fishing licenses must be applied for at the responsible municipality,
according to a model specified by the Supreme Fishing Authority with the corresponding period of validity.

Requirements
- After passing the fishing examination in accordance with the Thuringian requirements, a fishing license can be issued.
- Fishing licenses are renewed in the same way as new licenses.
- There is no renewal option for lifetime fishing licenses, quarterly fishing licenses and youth fishing licenses.

- Examination certificate of a passed fishing examination or proof of fishing training (§ 29 Para. 2 No. 1 ThürFischG, § 33 Para. 2 ThürFischAVO)

What are the fees?
The amount of the fee depends on the period of validity of the fishing license applied for. The fishing tax is levied together with the issuing fee.
§ Section 37 ThürFischAVO (fishing license fee and fishing levy) regarding the Thuringian fees.
(1) The fishing license fee is as follows
1. the annual fishing license 8,00 Euro
2. the five-year fishing license 15.00 Euro,
3. the ten-year fishing license 20.00 Euro
4. the lifetime fishing license 45.00 euros
5. the youth fishing license 5.00 Euro,
6. the quarterly fishing license 10.00 Euro,
7. the issue of a duplicate 8.00 Euro,
(2) The fishing tax amounts to
1. the annual fishing license 10.00 Euro,
2. the five-year fishing license 30.00 Euro,
3. the ten-year fishing license 50.00 Euro,
4. the lifetime fishing license 200.00 euros,
5. the youth fishing license 7.00 Euro,
6. the quarterly fishing license 15.00 Euro
(3) The fishing tax shall be levied by the competent authorities in accordance with§ 30 ThürFischG before a fishing license is issued. The revenue from the fishing levy shall be transferred by the competent authorities to the supreme fishing authority on April 30 and October 31 of each year via the bank account used for this purpose. The transfers made shall be reported to the supreme fisheries authority by the competent bodies pursuant toSection 30 ThürFischG in accordance with a template specified by the supreme fisheries authority by the tenth day of the calendar month following the transfer.
What deadlines do I have to pay attention to?
Deadlines are not defined in the law or the ordinance. However, the responsible municipality in conjunction with the responsible district administration office or district-free city can announce regulations on this.
