The Chamber of Tax Consultants Thuringia is a corporation under public law and has the task of safeguarding the professional interests of its members as a whole and of monitoring the fulfillment of professional duties.

In particular, the Chamber of Tax Consultants is responsible for,

• to advise and instruct the members of the chamber in questions of professional duties (§ 57 StBerG);
• upon request, to mediate in disputes between members of the chamber;
• to mediate, upon request, in disputes between members of the chamber and their clients;
• to supervise the fulfillment of the duties incumbent upon the members (§ 57 StBerG) and to handle the right of reprimand (§ 81);
• to submit the lists of nominees for honorary assessors at the professional courts to the state judicial administrations (Section 99 (3) StBerG);
• to establish welfare institutions for tax advisors and tax agents and their surviving dependents;
• to render expert opinions requested by a court, a state fiscal authority or another administrative authority of the state;
• to perform the duties assigned by law in the field of professional education;
• to propose the professional members of the examination boards for the tax advisory professions;
• to perform the tasks assigned to the chambers of tax consultants under the Second and Sixth Sections of the Second Part of the Tax Consultancy Act, such as the appointment procedure as a tax consultant, the recognition procedure as a tax consulting company.
