Home place (children's home)

Service Description

Children's homes provide a home for children and young people who cannot live with their parents.

The reasons for placement in a children's home vary: the death of both parents, a child does not receive the necessary attention and care from his or her family, parents do not feel up to the responsibility of raising a child or do not have the necessary pedagogical skills. Home education is understood as help for education in an institution where children and adolescents are cared for pedagogically during the day and night in order to support them in their development by combining everyday life with pedagogical and therapeutic offers.

The focus is on pedagogical care, personality development, academic development, social coexistence and the organization of leisure time. The origin of today's home education lies in the classic children's home, where children are cared for in residential groups. This form of care has further developed and specialized, in that there are also children's homes for specific target groups, the size varies greatly and thus corresponds to the existing need for help. The basic aim of educational assistance is the reintegration of the children and adolescents in care into their families of origin.
