Required documents:

• written form application with the specification of the owner and vehicle data.
  The application can also be filled out at the registration office.

• Valid identity card (not a copy) of the vehicle owner or passport with registration certificate from the registration office of the place of residence.
  The registration certificate must not be older than three months.
• If the vehicle owner is not a natural person, further documents are required to establish the owner (see links under "Vehicle registration").

• If the license plate is damaged, it must be presented. A new license plate will be sealed as a replacement. The documents listed below are not required.

In the event of loss or theft, the following are also required

• Any remaining license plate or proof of assignment of the license plate if it is a vehicle that is not registered but has license plates

• Declaration in lieu of an oath (notification of the registration authority by telephone or in writing is not sufficient); if applicable, declaration of loss.

• In case of theft, confirmation of notification by the police.

• Inspection report of the last unexpired general inspection (not required if the first general inspection was not yet due).

• Inspection report of the last unexpired exhaust emission test (not applicable if the first exhaust emission test was not yet due and for vehicles that are not subject to the exhaust emission test obligation).

• Inspection report of the last safety inspection that has not yet expired (if required)

• Registration certificate Part I and II (vehicle registration document and vehicle title)
